Meredith Nicole - Studio Furniture

There are three muses that inspire my work – human stories, the materials with which I create, and the practice of exploration. Together, these inform my furniture with a uniqueness that exhibits my love for both tradition and originality.

Furniture can be so much more than merely functional objects, and so to distinguish my work from the commonplace - to give it a kind of value that cannot be found elsewhere - I embed in each of my creations stories that have touched me, giving every work an individuality reflective of the people who share their experiences with me.

Such stories can be told by carefully-selected materials that are capable of transmitting their timeless durability, and it is the materials that I choose to use that give my furniture its life.

Craft must also tell of the artisan who constructs it. Through the practice of intentional exploration, I bring my own subtle sense of quirkiness and originality to my works, a playfulness that complements the time-honoured traditional techniques I use to shape each piece.

With great love and attention to detail, I seek the most perfect synergy between my three muses to create furniture that is greater than the sum of its parts. My profession is my passion.
