Artist Statement
Three muses inspire my work- relationships, conversation and materials. They are what give purpose to my objects.
I am intrigued by how we interact with one another and the relationships we build. My pieces reflect the moment that occurs when we allow the possibility of a non-predictable interaction to take place. Avoiding theoretical adornment to highlight this, I create a gentle force of quirkiness to engage the imagination and beget conversation.
Materials are the heroes in my work and are what creates the opportunities for such effortless expansion in my work. Wood, metal, glass, latex, resin and concrete keep my interests shifting from one day to the next. Precisely it is the spontaneous reaction between the material and myself that provides the information needed for the piece.
I am humbled by my journey and feel great solace in my chosen profession (i.e. I like to make stuff).
